Earlier this month the Education Secretary Damian Hinds announces that all state funded School Children will be taught First Aid in their curriculum from September 2020. The new proposals will create a nation of lifesavers.
Currently fewer than 1 in 20 people who have a cardiac arrest outside of hospital in the UK survive. For every minute without life-saving treatment the chance of survival drops by approximately 10% per minute so early assistance is critical to increase survival rates. In countries that already teach CPR in schools, cardiac arrest survival rates are almost double those of the UK.
