Course Overview:
The workshop provides a detailed introduction to Makaton and combines a practical approach with theory and technical information with practical activities through the 2 days.
Course Outline:
Lectures cover research into sign and symbol use, symbol design themes, the use and purpose of Makaton and an overview of alternative systems of communication.
You will learn;
Signs and symbols from Core Vocabulary Stages 1-4 and Additionally
• Knowledge of the Makaton Vocabulary Language Programme is discussed within the context of signing systems
• Use signs with speech in conversation
• Discussion around commonly asked questions about the Makaton Vocabulary
• Hints and tips for effective signing and symbol use
• How to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work.

You will also be given a certificate of attendance. Please remember to keep your Foundation Workshop certificate in case you want to attend further Makaton training.
