Course Overview:

Infection control means we are not completely at the mercy of infections and the diseases that infections cause because we can take certain actions the control them. The more we learn about infection – what it is and how it occurs – the more we know how to avoid it, overcome it and minimise its spread. In particular the course will enable the delegate to:

: Understand key infection control issues
: Encourage a ‘safe practice’ culture both for individuals and in the workplace

: Causes of Infections and how these spread
: Decontamination
: Hand Washing Procedure
: Personal Hygiene
: Management of an Outbreak
: The importance of documentation
: Protective clothing and equipment

There is no final assessment. The tutor ensures a thorough understanding has been achieved by questions, answers, discussion and practical scenarios
