DESCRIPTION:Qualification Overview \nThe qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: \n• Resuscitation Council (UK)\n• Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications \nThis qualification is: \n• For people who deal with  first aid at work enabling them to be workplace  first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 \n• Based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 \nThis qualification should enable Learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. \nLearners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe\, prompt\, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of first aider. \nQualification Outline \n1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider \n1.1 Identify the role and responsibilities of a first aider\n1.2 Identify how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others\n1.3 Identify the need for consent to provide first aid \n2. Be able to assess an incident \n2.1 Conduct a scene survey\n2.2 Conduct a primary survey of a casualty\n2.3 Summon appropriate assistance when necessary \n3. Training providers can run qualifications regulated by these awarding bodies. They are regulated with strict quality and verification processes\, so you get piece of mind that the training is up to date and of a potentially high standard. The qualifications have to be verified by both the awarding body and the training provider to assure quality. \nOther Information: \nAll delegates receive a quality first aid manual. DESCRIPTION:Qualification Overview \nThe qualification and learning outcomes are based on the recommendations of: \n• Resuscitation Council (UK)\n• Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications \nThis qualification is: \n• For people who deal with emergency first aid at work enabling them to be workplace emergency first aiders under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 \n• Based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) training standard for delivery of Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) courses for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 \nThis qualification should enable Learners to attain the knowledge and practical competencies needed to deal with a range of emergency first aid situations. \nLearners should be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe\, prompt\, effective first aid in emergency situations with an understanding of the role of first aider. \nQualification Outline \n1. Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider \n1.1 Identify the role and responsibilities of a first aider\n1.2 Identify how to minimise the risk of infection to self and others\n1.3 Identify the need for consent to provide first aid \n2. Be able to assess an incident \n2.1 Conduct a scene survey\n2.2 Conduct a primary survey of a casualty\n2.3 Summon appropriate assistance when necessary \n3. Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty \n3.1 Identify when to administer Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)\n3.2 Demonstrate CPR using a manikin and the use of a defibrillator\n3.3 Justify when to place a casualty into the recovery position\n3.4 Demonstrate how to place a casualty into the recovery position\n3.5 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is experiencing a seizure \n4. Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking \n4.1 Identify when choking is:\n• Mild\n• Severe \n4.2 Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking \n5. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding \n5.1 Identify the severity of external bleeding\n5.2 Demonstrate how to control external bleeding \n6. Know how provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock \n6.1 Recognise a casualty who is suffering from shock\n6.2 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock \n7. Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries \n7.1 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty with:\n• Small cuts\n• Grazes\n• Bruises\n• Small splinters \n7.2 Identify how to administer first aid to a casualty with minor burns and scalds \nCourse Duration \n1 Day \nQualification Assessment and Certification \nFormative assessment conducted by Trainer throughout the course.\nTheory assessment/multiple choice question paper: 1 x 15 question paper (minimum score 11)\nPractical assessment – 4 completed throughout the course \nThis qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
