It’s great to see more and more companies taking their Social Corporate Responsibilities seriously, valuing their people and assessing their emergency equipment provision that extends beyond the first aid kit. If a medical emergency arises such as a Cardiac Arrest they can be confident that they have everything thing in place to assist that person and hopefully save their life.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a leading cause of premature death and currently UK survival rates are an abysmal 7%, studies have shown that quick access to a defibrillator and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) within 3 minutes could increase survival rates significantly to 74%.
Unfortunately our Ambulance service is stretched and Ambulance services cannot guarantee to respond immediately to an emergency call, even when it is given high priority. When they can respond promptly, it is not often that they can provide defibrillation within 3−5 minutes and for every minute that passes the chance of survival drops by 10%.
A defibrillator is a sound investment ensuring staff and visitors alike have prompt access to life saving equipment and lifesaving first aiders. Defibrillators are now more affordable than ever and with long guarantees and minimal maintenance costs it is considered an essential piece of kit for any organisation.
